EMSELLA® INCONTINENCE TREATMENT
STRENGTHEN THE PELVIC FLOOR AT PORTLAND'S WALDORF CENTER
Good bladder control depends on a strong pelvic floor. Unfortunately, there are many factors that can weaken the muscles there, including pregnancy and childbirth, menopause, and aging. As hormone levels shift and pelvic tissues weaken, the bladder is increasingly unable to function properly, leading to incidents of incontinence that can be triggered by jogging, sneezing, and even laughing. Dr. Kathleen Waldorf and Dr. Rachel Streu understand that this can be a remarkably frustrating situation for women, which is why they’ve added the EMSELLA® incontinence treatment to the Portland-based practice.

WHY CHOOSE EMSELLA® FOR AN INCONTINENCE TREATMENT IN PORTLAND?
The involuntary release of urine can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. Mothers, older women, and anyone dealing with the problem of a weak pelvic floor may want a solution, but also may be unsure how best to approach the problem.
The Waldorf Center is committed to using the latest techniques to improve patients’ lives, so when EMSELLA® was developed as an incontinence treatment, the team investigated the technology and claims, ultimately deciding that EMSELLA® is ideal for women dealing with the problem of bladder control in the Portland area. The providers are properly trained in the use of the innovative device, as well as discreet to allow patients privacy and discretion.

THE EMSELLA® PROCEDURE
The EMSELLA® device is a seat known as the “Kegel throne,” named after exercises designed to strengthen muscles in the pelvic area. The seat delivers high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy into the targeted muscles, passing harmlessly through skin and fabric—which means you can leave your clothes on.
The energy causes the muscles to repeatedly contract and relax—about 11,000 times over the course of 28 minutes. This “supramaximal contractions” should be repeated twice a week for three weeks to get the ideal full benefit. The contractions build muscle tissue for a stronger pelvic floor that better supports the bladder. Effects may be noticeable after a single session, but the full treatment plan should be followed, with increasingly improved muscle function developing in the weeks after. There is no need for any special recuperation or recovery as an EMSELLA® session involves no incisions or sutures.
