Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)
Many people find that they have excess skin on their bellies after having a baby or after losing weight. This skin often times does not go away even with the strictest diets and routine exercise. The abdominal wall muscles are also often stretched as well.
An abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, allows the surgeon to remove excess skin and fat in order to create a smoother stomach shape. Through an incision on the lower abdomen (typically below and between the hip bones) a qualified surgeon can tighten the muscles and smooth out the abdominal wall skin to refine a person's figure.
After a tummy tuck, a person should plan on relaxing for about a week, and then will ease back into routine daily activities. Typically, exercise is restricted for approximately four weeks to allow adequate healing.
